Glaucoma Drops Grow Longer Eyelashes

For many years, both patient and doctors have noticed that certain prostaglandin analog eye drops used for glaucoma (particularly Lumigan), cause eyelashes grow longer.  Recently bimatoprost, the molecule in the glaucoma drop Lumigan has been approved by the FDA in the treatment of eyelash hypotrichosis.  Now let me translate this for you into plain English.  In many cases, Lumigan or similar eye drops will help grow eyelashes making them longer, thicker, and darker.  For this reason the manufacturer of Lumigan (Allergan) created the product Latisse using the same molecule to cosmetically create longer, thicker and darker eye lashes.  Latisse is only available by a prescription and is applied to the base of the upper eyelashes with a mascara type brush.  Latisse is safe with minimal adverse reactions, common side effects are redness and itching.  For some patients, it is possible to have your skin beco
